Seth is a second-generation sheet metal worker. In the summers through high school and college, he would work at his dad’s sheet metal business and during one of those summers, he connected with someone working in BIM. He decided that was the path for him and changed his college plans to move into construction full-time.
Working on the most complex projects and figuring out how to make complicated systems fit together keeps Seth motivated at work. The more complex and demanding a project is, the more challenging and interesting the solution is. When supporting others on his team, he likes to give people the opportunity to step into leadership roles to let them do and learn more. By being a role model and sharing his experiences, he supports his team in gaining the knowledge and skills they need to grow in their roles.

What problem would you love to solve for the construction industry?

- In a perfect world, detailing would be brought on before a project breaks ground and we would have the time to build models without tight deadlines. More time means more innovative solutions and better models.
What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on?

- VA Medical Center in Orlando, Florida. The size and complexity of the project made it an exciting job to work on. Getting to work on a project of that scale as a lead early in my career was a great experience. Plus, it was in Florida which is pretty cool for a kid from Michigan.
If you could live anywhere in America, where would it be?

- Somewhere super hot like Destin, Florida or Arizona
